About Us - Practitioners

dr_kanekoDr. Shinobu Kaneko, MD comes from a long line of physicians and became interested in integrative medicine early on in her career.

Growing up in South America, Dr. Kaneko saw how changes in traditional dietary and lifestyle habits had devastating effects on the health of those around her. She also grew up seeing how effective traditional medicines could be.

She decided to follow in her parents' footsteps and went to medical school to be trained as a conventional physician. During her medical training and residency, she saw first hand how medicine tended to emphasize diseases over people, looking at the trees but not seeing the forest. She vowed when she had her own practice that she would do things differently.

Following her residency, Dr. Kaneko joined a family practice and when the senior partner retired, she began working with ECCM to set up her dream of an integrative practice. After working with ECCM for several years, Dr. Kaneko found that the combination produced amazing and lasting results in her patients. Many cases of diabetes, hypertension, migraines, digestive disorders, menopause, arthritis and a number of other conditions have been reversed to the point where the patients no longer require medications. Of course, there are still patients that need medications and as Dr. Kaneko puts it: "It's not about Eastern versus Western medicine, it's about practicing good medicine. Good medicine looks at the whole person. We're not treating diseases, we're treating people, and we've found that in the majority of cases, if you treat the person, the disease doesn't stay. If you ignore the person, even if the disease goes away, another one will be right on its heels."

Dr. Kaneko heads ECCM's primary care division. She has special interests in natural and/or bioidentical hormone therapy and nutritional and functional medicine. She sees patients at our Los Angeles office.

Regardless of the reason, this is very disturbing. You my want to think twice (or more) about the flu vaccine. http://bit.ly/cZYBCj
